Ron and Carol Green Story Runners - Campus Crusade for Christ 100 Lake Hart Dr., 1100 Orlando, FL 32382 Dear Friends and Family I pray that you are enjoying some spring weather. We have finally warmed up some here in Florida. It was even cold here. One day we counted 5 snow flurries � yes, that�s right � 5 snow flurries!! Most of the time Ron writes our prayer letters, I edit them, add some comments, then we pray over them and away they go but this month I wanted to write because of the burden on my heart that grows deeper everyday for the women of this world. God loves each and every woman. He created us all so uniquely! But unfortunately, the world over, women do not know of anyone who loves them, especially a God that loves them and cares about them. Here are a few statistics that a friend sent me. It�s astounding that this can go on in our world today.
1. There are more than 27 million refugees is the world today � 80% of them are women. 2. 20-50% of the world�s women are assaulted by their husbands. 3. Marital rape is considered to be a crime in only 17 countries. 4. Women and girls work 70% of the work hours globally and yet, they own less than 1% of global wealth, and receive only 10% of global income. 5. About 70 million women and children were victims of sex trafficking in Asia during the last 10 years. 6. The main victims of modern warfare are civilian women and children, not soldiers. 7. 70% of the work done around the world is unpaid work done by women. 8. 2/3 of the people who are unable to read and write are women (more than a billion women).
2010 has rolled in with a fury and the fury is people calling and emailing for us to train women in their areas of the world in Bible storying. With over a billion women unable to read, they need the gospel and in a way that conveys the message that God loves them so much. Six years ago I sat with a group of widows in Afghanistan who could not read or write but they had come to Christ through the Jesus film. We sat with them for 5 days and taught them Bible stories. The one thing that they didn�t understand was how much God loved them. As we taught them one women�s story after another, it started becoming clear to them that �God does love me, God understands me, God has a plan for me.� You cannot imagine their faces when they realized these truths! Because of this trip, God has placed these women on my heart with a burden and a passion to reach them. We have been working with the Jesus Film to develop stories to help with evangelism and discipleship with their new film for women; Magdalena; Released from Shame. After many, many hours we have finished the manual and are now using it in our trainings with women. In early March, I was at a Trans World Radio meeting with their women�s ministry team who has developed a women�s radio program. Their radio programs primarily address village health, child raising and themes relating to women globally, but they wanted Bible stories to go along with their programming. This will reach women in over 54 countries. Please pray with us that God will give us wisdom as we develop the stories and that they will be stories that convey God�s love for each of these women. In May, I will be going to West Africa. There we will be training about 20-30 women in Bible storying. That means 20-30 women who will learn the stories, learn how to develop their own stories and be able to train others. � Pray for the two billion unreached people who have yet to hear the gospel.
� Pray that our teams around the world will walk closely with the Lord
� Pray that those who have been trained in Bible storying will be faithful to use what they have learned.
� Pray for protection of our teams working in difficult areas.
� Pray for perseverance of new believers as they share Bible stories with others.
� Pray for oppressed women around the world to hear about God�s love for them
� Ask the Lord to provide the funding and national workers for Bible storying projects.
